It was parent-teacher conference day at the high school Grant taught, and the students got a half day so the teachers and staff could prepare for meetings with the parents to touch on some subjects with their kids; he looked at his list and saw that Arden and her mother was next so he called Arden in from the line in the hall, he did brief meetings with the parents, longer if the students he had were falling behind or there were other issues which were rare for him because he was one of the few teachers among the favorites. When Arden walked, he looked shocked at who her mother was. "Arden and Ms. Waite," Grant said as he stood up and directed both women to the chairs before his desk. He didn't want to freak out Arden that he knew her mother before this meeting; of course, most parents he didn't know, Arden's Mom being one he knew beforehand, sort of when they took a seat.
"Ms. Waite, I can tell you know, you should be very proud of your daughter when it comes to my class, academically and behavior; she's one of my best students, very respectful, understands the course work, and is a delight to have in my class, there's really nothing else I could say other than the fact, that she keeps this up she'll have a very bright future and will have a vast range of colleges she can attend, they would all be lucky to have her"
He looked at his papers before looking. "Now, in the case that Arden is in her final year of high school, she's at the stage where she should start looking at colleges. I spoke with her other teachers, and we're all very willing to write recommendation letters on her behalf, increasing her chances of getting into any college she wants; add that to some college credits she already has, and she's set."
