No. 2 Flying Training School, Royal Air Force, Digby, Lincolnshire
Thank you for your letter and [[Tony's ??]], which I have sent to Uncle Robert. I will find out definitely this week if I can come to the wedding: I don't mind admitting I am not crazy about it, what with getting from here to Granthan to catch the train, which is no small bother in itself when no one with a car is going, and having to get myself fitted out with garments: however, if I can leave I will come, since you would like it, I know.
When I got back after [[?]] several fellow from here had been to some motor bike races near Grantham, and told me they had seen a horribly fat man with a ginger moustache and loud check cap who was putting down numerous pints in the beer tent: my old friend A. Leitch, I've no doubt!
I'm glad to hear you would like to try aviation; I have often thought we might take a trip in the air together: one can hire an aircraft for 30/- an hour, but I should have to get a civil licence, price £2.20 I think, which seems rather a lot when I should hardly ever have an opportunity of using it.
We have had three practical exams, in which I have done fairly well, and the written ones start tomorrow. No other news, I'm afraid.
I suppose you will be staying at St. J. during June: I expect I shall spend some of the leave there, but I don't know yet how much I shall get.
