Festival time in Slovakia with friends before our return to Cuba 🇨🇺 Only “last thing to do” - we lost @thaira.music passport so before flying from Vienna tomorrow at 8 pm we have to go to the cuban embassy in Prague what is 10 hour long “Euro trip” in a completely different direction... As things like to be as complicated as they can recently, there is a Cuban embassy in my hometown Bratislava, or even in Vienna, but It seems that cuban officials like to take long summer vacations... Cuban embassy in Bratislava is closed for 2 months - (they think they are students on a summer break) and Embassy in Vienna is closed also for quite a while, so we have to deal with all the paperwork with a huge detour what cost us so much more money... If you are reading this and you are Cuban (or in a relationship with a Cuban), don’t loose that precious passport that gets you almost nowhere!!! it’s going to cost me almost 250 euro to get a replacement travel document for Teresa @thaira.music, plus 100 euro for a new passport and about 100 round trip to Prague - it seems to me like a punishment for traveling outside our idyllic island 🌴 - It’s unbelievable that citizen of the country like Cuba where average salary is about $20 per month has to pay about $250 for a replacement travel document if you are robbed or you loose your passport and wait for it for several days. What if you don’t have it? As most of Cubans don’t and someone has to pay it for them. As a Slovakian citizen (where minimal wage is about $500 euro) we pay 15 euro for replacement travel document and they give it to us at the embassy within 15-30 minutes. Seems to me that TIC (This is Cuba) or Cuban things with no logic have no borders and we have to deal with them even outside of the country. Cross the fingers so it all works out tomorrow and @thaira.music can board the plane ✈️ because if not, I would have another headache with the immigration because she overstayed her precious granted 55 days long Shenzhen stay.
