wow it's been 3 years to the Day since i last added to this challenge. massive coincidence. i just wanted to do something "simple" to get myself back into drawing since i felt like it but this took 4-5 hours to draw regardless lmao.

10 years ago today, i decided "oh no i ship them" about zapper zaku and grappler gouf from the kids' anime SD Gundam Force. it was widely disliked by 95% of "real" gundam fans, largely forgotten as a whole, and the second season's english dub never even aired on tv and was a direct to dvd release (4 years after the original japanese version aired).

for funsies, i made humanised versions of zapper zaku and grappler gouf. humans are easier to draw than robots right. but somewhere along the line, my investment in these humanised forms was so great that they had basically become my own characters, even though they retained the (nick)names zapper and grappler.

i had intended to make a whole webcomic about them, along with other characters that had also started out as expies from robot shows, but the scale of it was kind of too much for what i wanted to do and also i am one of the many who work full time jobs to pay the bills and all that. but i've been drawing them regardless consistently for the past 10 years, i don't know if The Comic will ever become a thing, but i do not intend to stop making silly little things (and the occasional full-effort piece) about zapper and grappler. they have been with me since i was 21 years old and are integral to my life and like, my general existence.

the video by all means does not contain every single thing i've drawn of them since 2013, just Most of the things i've drawn of them together. it's 10 minutes and 4 seconds long, it's a mash-up of 2 versions of I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That) originally by meat loaf and of course written by jim steinman because that guy is also integral to how these characters developed lol.
