Plant of the Day
Wednesday 12 February 2020
A great texture is created by this planting of Carex comans bronze-leaved (New Zealand hair sedge) in the New Zealand planting of the Royal Horticultural Society Garden Hyde Hall, Essex. This evergreen perennial forms a dense tuft of reddish-brown leaves, there are inconspicuous brown flower spikes in the late summer. In this planting the Phormium tenax (New Zealand flax) in the background provides an emphasis to the linear habit of the plants selection.
