Some things didn’t really change, no matter what. Angie had started mixing drinks at parties when she was a teen, and while booze shouldn’t be the one constant in your life, it was one of hers. Pulling a beer didn’t require any thought, she could mix gin and tonics by muscle memory alone and they would taste the same. The majority of the prep needed for a bar, the general maintenance was the same, too. Slicing fruit, cleaning glasses, there was a rhythm to it all that she was grateful for. The casino meant new faces to learn, new regulars to charm, yet she really didn’t mind it. After the move, getting unpacked, and getting Lily settled, having a shift where she didn’t have to worry about the house was a relief. Having Lily with a sitter was, too. Better to pay for it rather than worry about owing someone something later. Angie hummed softly to herself as she turned her back on the bar for a moment to switch out the empty bottles. Hearing a barstool scrape against the floor, she turned to face her newest customer with a smile. “What can I get you?”
