Think this might work as the elevator pitch:
Gravewalkers is a Forged in the Dark RPG in which you play as deathless revenants, resurrected against your will, clinging to thin dregs of hope and community in a world gone mad. As civil war engulfs the empire, your party has broken free of necromantic control and returned to their home city, which teeters on the brink. Powerful groups seek an ancient artefact nearby, and are willing to destroy you – and those you care about – to get it. Will you beat them to it? Will you recover from your traumas and help your community? Or will your home fall into despair and chaos, as you lose your last shreds of hope? We play to find out.
Picked up a daylight bulb a few weeks back, hopefully we can all see things a little more clearly now.
Jumpcut! Episode 2 Spoilers ‼️
If Gauze reveals herself without her bandages, she has some couple of scars in her mouth and ear
I’m also considering starting each character with a Trauma-equivalent in Gravewalkers - that puts pressure on immediately, and adds yet another ticking clock, but I also want a core mechanic that allows you to heal from Trauma. Other FitD games say thismay be possible via Long-Term projects but don’t have it as a defined mechanic - probably to encourage it to be permanent.
Part of the setup is you’re conscript soldiers who were resurrected to fight a war over and over until your complete bodily destruction - reintegrating with your community after that, and healing emotionally, is something I want to emphasise. Also, since trauma-ing out will be the main way for PCs to become non-viable, I want a mecahnic to allow players to claw back some time. Since I already have two ticking clocks, I’m reasonably confident this won’t throw balance too out of whack.
