There was something about them, something that tickled the back of his mind, his lips parting before they close and he raises a brow. Cocky and annoying, why was that so familiar? They light the end of the stick, embers flaring to life as he watches, the tendrils of smoke coiling up like snakes around the cigarette, extending in the air itself and he can already smell it. The sweetness of the tobacco, the sharpness of the flame and then they speak and his hand falls to his hip. Fingers itch to dig into his brain and pull out the name that’s right there, it’s so close to the tip of his tongue he can practically feel himself enunciating the syllables but then its gone and Gabriel frowns as he stands his ground. “Well, this is rather awkward then,” he sighs, “see I didn’t think I knew you but now that you’ve opened up that trap of yours, I feel like I do. Sorry to interrupt your little, ‘I’m a big man and I’ll intimidate you’ speech but, don’t I know you?” Brown hues narrow, the energy feels the same, demonic, strong but familiar like the way a certain scent triggers a name, a thought, a memory.
Gabriel takes a step forward, the vessel is different though and he leans in closer before his eyes widen, “no, there’s no way,” the archangel laughs as if the answer was so obviously there the entire time, reaching out as his fingers snap, breaking the cigarette in half with a smug grin. “Micah, the pain in my ass. What the hell happened to you? Got tired of the old vessel or did you smoke his lungs into an early grave?” Gabriel glances at the now broken cigarette knowingly, “told you that shit’ll kill you someday.”
