Aside from the pluses she had already listed that came from them being separated for extended periods of time, there was an underlying one that they benefited most from which was not being able to talk about the looming element of her deal that obviously and naturally put a strain on them as it meant all of this would end sooner rather than later. Of course, though, being away from him also meant less time she would have to spend with him, but if they were only going to argue… Kassie would rather them just have these momentary bubbles of bliss to soak in and just deal with the heartbreak that would occur after the bubble burst. Maybe ignoring her impending expiration wasn’t the best way to handle it, but she was so tired of fighting with him; she just wanted this. To feel him, to taste him, to love him. Her heart never felt so full from just being with him. She just wanted to live in denial and pretend their tiny moments of happiness would never end. And thankfully, the outside forces that would normally bring about said end had gone easy on them this time, allowing for them to enjoy each other for a nice long while and just relax. Something they had obviously been in sore need of, evident by the marks they had left on the other’s bodies, trying to get as close as humanly possible. Sex with Sam, without question, was always great, but when he turned desperate…she honestly couldn’t get enough of it. Because it became less about the physical act and more about him needing her, longing for her, and loving her. It was those emotions behind it she really relished in. And of course the visual of his handsome face now looking up at her from his pillow upon her lap, her heart practically singing at the sight. She moved her free hand to gently caress his scruffy cheek whilst keeping up with hair stroking with her other. “I missed you, too,” she told him softly, a great contrast to the loud noises he had coaxed out of her earlier. Her lips twitched, threatening to smirk, but instead, she just sighed in contentment. “I think we might have gone a little too long without seeing each other…”
He let out a huff of a laugh at her words. While he was inclined to agree, he also couldn’t say he didn’t enjoy the outcome of the extended time apart. If every time they saw each other again was like this, things between them would be significantly different. Easier, even. But easy was not something that happened for Sam, and he knew that the same was often the case in her life.
Refusing to let darker thoughts ruin the moment, he rolled his head slightly to press his cheek into her palm as she ran her hand across it. “Hmm, maybe. I might say it was worth it.” He didn’t hide the cocky grin that formed, nor the tone in his voice that made it clear he was damn proud of himself. He was, after all, a man who had just satisfied a need, but more importantly he had very obviously satisfied her need. Did he mention more than once?
His laugh told her that he was likely to agree with her assessment, but when he spoke, a kind of cocky nature spilled out that he reserved for pillow-talk and claimed that their time apart just might have been worth it. The reason why was evident within his cheeky expression. A soft giggle bubbled up the woman’s throat, enjoying the side of him that only she got to witness and revel in. “Well, I can’t argue with that,” she said, definitely not upset at the result, either. To be honest, it was making her hot and bothered again just thinking about it. “I didn’t know you could do that with your tongue… Mmm. I’m certain Dean and Auryon heard me…” She grinned, looking down at him. “Also certain that I don’t care in the slightest.” It was only fair, after all, having heard the pair of them more than once. Now it was their turn.
