You Find Him Crying (Part 1)
Darry: You went over with some grocery bags and planned to make him dinner since the gang would be out and it was the anniversary of his parents death. When you got there you turned the knob, but the door was locked. You knocked on the door, “Darry?” You called, before moving and getting the spare key, unlocking the door, and you found him on the couch with a bottle of beer in his hand, tears running down his face. “Darry?” You asked quietly and he sobbed, “T-their never gonna come back...” He said, and you gently put the bags down and walked over, taking his head softly, “Hey... It’s okay...” You said, rubbing his cheeks, “They’re not going to come back but... They’re with you Darry, in here,” You said, placing your hand on his heart, “They’re so proud of you baby... You’ve been an amazing brother to Ponyboy, Sodapop... Even the gang.” He nodded and hugged you tightly around your middled, “I love you so much (y/n).”
Sodapop: “Hey Sodapop?” You asked, walking into the DX, since it was late at night it was just Sodapop, he said he had to work late to finish up some soc’s car by morning. “Y-Yeah?” He asked from the garage, and you walked out there to see him sitting on a work bench crying. “Soda?” You asked shakily, you’ve never seen him this upset, “What’s wrong?” He swallowed hard and wiped his eyes, “I got a letter today... from Sandy. They... S-She said... S-She was pregnant with my baby and she didn’t want to burden m-me... S-So she said she t-took some pills and...” He sobbed covering his face. You walked over and leaned in front of him, wrapping your arms around his neck and rubbing his back, “Oh Sodapop...” You said, running your fingers through his hair, “I-it was my baby (Y/n)... My child and she killed it!” He cried. You held him tightly, not being able to imagine the pain he was going through, but you had situations in your own life that gave you an idea of the pain he was going through, “Soda... I know that this is hard but one day... It’s gonna be okay... The pain will be less and you’ll be okay again. I know it’s hard and I can’t even begin to imagine the pain you’re going through.” You told him, stroking his cheeks. He tucked his head in your neck and held you tightly
Steve: Steve?” You asked, walking into his house. Since it was your date night and Steve hadn’t shown up you decided to go and find him to make sure he as okay. He never stood you up or was never even late you were worried. You heard a faint noise coming from his room so you walked down the familiar hallway and into his room and you found him on his bed with his head in his hands, “Steve? Baby what’s wrong?” You asked and he sniffled, handing you a letter. It looked like a woman’s writing, so you read it carefully.
Dear Steven,
I’m sorry that I’m writing you this and I havent been around since your tenth birthday. I need you to know that I didn’t leave because of you, I left because of your father. You were the best thing that ever happened to me, but when I left your father he took everything from me. Mrs. and Mr. Curtis lent me money to get back on my feet, and up until a few months ago I was saving to get custody of you. Unfortunately, a few days after I got a lawyer, I got diagnosed with cancer. It’s took late for me now, but I’ve left you my house, the money I saved, and my car, in a small town outside Tulsa. By the time this letter reaches you I don’t think I will be alive anymore and I’m so sorry I haven’t seen you lately, but I love you and i always will. Please forgive me, God is taking me now. I hope I see you again on day.
“Oh Steve...” You whispered, tears in your own eyes. You hugged him tightly and he sobbed into your shirt You knew how much Steve hated showing emotions and you doubted any of the gang or even Evie had seen him cry. You loved Steve more than anything, and you knew better than to try and comfort him. You just held him while he cried and rubbed his back, hoping he’d eventually get better.
