There’s this beautiful consistency in Ospreay’s character of not wanting to actually hurt someone. This is the same dude who stopped using the Triger Driver 91 after hurting Bryan Danielson. The same person who was betrayed by the DCF and Kyle Fletcher because he refused to use a screwdriver on someone to win a title. He might be a Death Rider, but he is not a killer.

Yuta Okkotsu is a loser of a man. That's the point.

Yuta has the most illustrious bloodline in JJK, descending from both the Fujiwara and Sugawara. Yet he was a timid, bullied child who found solace in an abused girl. Why?

Because unlike Gojo, Yuta did not inherit wealth or status from his heritage. It's not the Heian era anymore. Yuta is working class and got no tangible benefits. Functionally, he is a worthless heir.

The brilliance of Yuta's technique is that he achieves power through the same method as worthless heirs throughout history: political marriage.

Yuta did not inherit money, but he inherited cursed energy. After being bullied, he lacked the confidence to establish his own dominion, instead investing his power into Rika, who proved much more capable. Yuta enslaved the soul of his child bride so that she could use his inheritance for him. Rika is the lady of the house, managing his wealth and tools.

Even after freeing Rika, Yuta's MO has been established and doesn't change. He just gets a new, living wife to replace Rika. The sword skill given to him by Maki Zen'in becomes the heart of his innate domain, while the first wife remains in charge of inventory.

Yuta is the natural endpoint of patriarchy in industrial society. He was not groomed to use his power in the traditional way, so rather than hierarchy, he uses emotional connection to gather useful wives. But that's still ultimately what he's doing. As Geto put it, he's a womanizer.

That's why Uro Takako reacts with such disgust when he tries to reach out to her during their fight in the Culling Game. She can see what Yuta can't: that he is exactly like every sleazy second son in history, condescending to women he doesn't understand. He believes he can bridge the gap between them, even though he's inherited the very power that created the gap in the first place!

Being asked to find love by a Fujiwara sorceror binding his dead wife to their wedding ring must have made Uro sick to her stomach.

Oh how I wish that Dark Mousy was like Kaji in this scene.

This world needs more man like Kaji.

He handed the situation like a pro. He didn't yell at her, he didn't diminished her value. He was simply honest and told her he can't return his feelings to her because she's too young for him.

Kaji, the way you're are such an inspiration for so many guys out there. We need more characters like him in media.

genuinely love the emperor's children habit of crunching up spirit stones. it's such a good representation of them in one action. first there's actual physical effects of chewing glass, which the books make sure to point out involve bleeding gums and swallowing clumps of jagged shards. then there's lore reason why, wanting to utterly debase and consume everything that someone is, knowing that you're completely snuffing them out for good for a second of selfish pleasure
