I need to rant about my Thomastair Sunshine Court thoughts ☀️

So it’s very obviously a great AU setting, with Alastair as “Jean” and Thomas as “Jeremy”. Like it doesn’t work 1:1 but that’s the basic premise.
What would make it interesting could be Alastair having more actively participated in Raven cruelty at some point, as a survival mechanism obviously. Since I have no idea who his Riko could be here their dynamic could affect how Alastair behaves in the nest.
He would still be “Moriyama property” though, having been sold to them by his crime lord dad when he ran into money problems or sth.
We could go very cruel and give Cordelia Elodie’s fate, but another version to keep her around could be Cordelia basically being a Renee stand-in. While Alastair is being trained at Evermore, she is drawn into the criminal underworld through Elias and commits all these crimes and has her own Renee arc, but she’s never given up on Alastair and the second she gets out and joins the Foxes she repeatedly reaches out to him. And even though he first avoids her for obvious reasons he eventually gives in and starts texting with her, which leads to the famed rescue mission. Their relationship is very damaged and broken though so she knows it’s better to have him recover far away from her, where he’d just be constantly worrying about her. Cue Alastair’s transfer to USC.
As for who is Alastair’s Kevin, I’d say there are a few options:
- Charles, obviously, though i think it’d be jucier if he’s another Raven who’s essentially taking advantage of Alastair (or possibly even Riko? I just can’t see Charles as sadistic tbh).
- Matthew works well as the big charismatic star, the deep love/hate bond and the later drinking issues.
- But my fav option is James. He’s the most Kevin-y out of all of them, and it adds great tension if he ends up on the Foxes with Cordelia and and falls in love with her (and possibly Matthew) instead of Alastair, and there’s all this history and bitterness between them. #ripkevjean
Now, THOMAS. He doesn’t have the same toxic family dynamics that Jeremy does, but otherwise he works soooo well. Him having a crush on Alastair at a distance and through the screen for YEARS, even though he feels kinda bad about it cause the Raven philosophy clashes so much with his own.
Like just imagine Alastair, completely traumatised and guilt-ridden, being taken in by the sunshine court and falling in love with Tom, but they’re angsty as hell about it cause Alastair doesn’t think he deserves it and Thomas is holding back all the time cause he doesn’t want to scare Alastair off or take advantage of him after everything he’s been through.
In this version Thomas’ siblings & family could be part of the positivity instead of a source of anxiety (like with Jeremy), and I LOVE the idea of Gideon & Sophie building a relationship with Alastair and being accepting of him like I crave that dynamic so much.
Some of my favourite Trojan/Floozies candidates are: Ari, Anna, Eugenia, Kit & Grace.
Some potential sources of conflict:
- Grace vs. Alastair cause maybe Jesse was a Raven and something happened to him so now Grace hates all Ravens, or Alastair in particular.
- Same if we decide to put Matthew with the Trojans: he could have major beef with Alastair cause he only knows Charles’ or James’ version of events.
Also worth mentioning the language issue. I think Elias has to be active/based in the US for Cordelia’s story to make sense but maybe the Carstairs siblings grew up either bilingual or even spent their earlier life traveling/in Iran. Thomas learning Persian for Alastair like Jeremy does for Jean jfksksllslslals
