Carlisle Cathedral - City of Carlisle. Some wonderfully atmospheric light captured at Carlisle Cathedral early yesterday morning, with the impressive East Window bathed in the golden hour sunshine. The Golden Hour is a photography term used to describe the period of daytime shortly after sunrise or before sunset, when the sunlight softer and more colourful than when the sun is higher in the sky. Although Carlisle Cathedral is the second smallest in the country, the East Window is the oppositely the largest window of its type.
