Aella bit her lip nervously as she tried to not show how afraid she was of her grandmother and how she knew she was now going to be in big trouble. 

The closed her eyes and gave herself a moment to think about how exactly she  was going to explain what had happened to the spear in the first place.  Without getting herself into even more trouble than she was sure was going to be  in, once Hippolyta finds out what she had done.

“I was pretending that I was on an adventure, that a lion was chasing me, so I picked up the spear and threw it. It was not my intention to throw it so hard or get it stuck in the wall... So I tried to get it out but it snapped in two” She answered as she took another step towards the queen “I`m so sorry grandma, it was an accident”

“Then why are you on this island?”

It was a quick retort and one that he regretted almost instantly because he didn’t actually expect her and her people to join a war that he largely agreed was pointless. It was frustrating, though, that now she was trying to keep him here, too.

“Listen, ma’am … your majesty.” Was that the proper form of address? He never did pay much attention to British royalty. “I am truly sorry for what happened here today, but all the men who followed me are dead and I swear to you that I have no interest in exposing your secrets.”

Not when, by joining the battle, they had helped protect the one thing that could hopefully change the course of the war. That was a debt he could never repay.

     her mother has always been her greatest source of strength – after all, it was hippolyta who taught her that love was strongest above all else. now, seeing her stand beside her, diana’s heart is softened, even in the midst of the world’s darkness. slowly, she reaches out, and takes the queen’s hand.  “ thank you, mother. ”

“ you can’t change a man. ”

     the archer shifts his weight from foot to foot, chews on the inside of his cheek as he studies the woman before him. she sounds and looks certain of the words that left her mouth. so certain that he doesn’t want to argue with her, even if he does hold a differing opinion. but he can’t hold his tongue. which might just prove her point.

     “i don’t think that’s true.”  or rather, clint doesn’t think it’s entirely true. he’s seen men change before. few and far between, sure. but he has seen it with his own two eyes, experienced it firsthand as well when shield decided to take him in. some men needed a second chance to turn their lives around, to do something good with what was left of it. some men required that extra push by people that cared.

     “i think it’s difficult to change a man. but we are capable of it. and that’s something i know.”
