Greatshells
Blightsong: Have larger landgoing greatshells existed above a chasmfiend?
Brandon Sanderson: Larger than a chasmfiend... the ones that wonder around out in the islands of Reshi could go on land. So yea, it is possible that there are larger ones. They do better in the water, because of how big they are, but the high oxygen, low gravity, and symbiotic bonds with the spren allow some megafauna that is just really large and just could exist on earth, so yeah.

Okay so obviously, the most important thing to talk about with greatshells right now is the conservation of them. If we keep hunting them the way we do, they’re going to all die out (at least, I assume they don’t just magically replenish themselves). It’s not sustainable.
But another issue I keep coming back to, how do we know all greatshells are even similar? They could be completely different for all we know!
We need to come up with a good classification scheme for all greatshells. I think a good first step for this is to get accurate drawings of all of them (and I volunteer to do this!) so we can sort them based on physiological features.
This might even help us figure out which ones we can hunt regularly, and which we need to spread out the hunting of!
