What motivates you admins to answer our questions everyday? (We appreciate it, btw!)

I’m somewhat of a child of the internet. They installed five computers with internet access in my high school in 1995 and I was one of the kids chosen to learn how to build websites and learn how to research.  By the time I graduate high school in 1997, I had used the internet to research Greek life beyond what I already knew.

As I went through college, the social nature of the internet expanded.  Although there had always been message boards and chat rooms, BlackPlanet and CollegeClub revolutionized how college-age people communicated with each other.  I started seeing people represent their organizations and I studied them hard, especially since my college did not have Greek life.

When I graduated, I joined GreekChat.com, which still exists, and many other online communities which no longer exist: MegaGreek, GreekEmails, SimplyGreek, and more.People always posted questions on those sites, much like you all do here.  I very rarely asked questions, but I read everything.  I saw some people act nasty and other act graciously, just like in real life.

I did ask private questions from the people who seemed open to it, and I benefited from that wisdom.  I even found one of my sponsors because of a friend I made via BlackPlanet.

So for me, being somewhat of an internet old head, this is not new to me.  What has changed is the medium and the people asking the questions.  But there will always be members and there will always be seekers, so why not be somebody who gives back?  Especially since I’ve seen so much evolve in Greekdom since 1995 when I first got on the net—both a real life evolution of Greekdom as well as an online evolution.

Plus, I be bored.
