A Crabby Invader
This European Green crab has been carried by ships in ballast water and is sold as fish bait in much of the world. It now has established populations on both coasts of North America, in southern South America, Australia, South Africa, and Japan. It is a predator of many forms of shore life, including worms and mollusks. In some areas, the crab’s voracious appetite has affected the commercial shellfish industry.

I haven’t posted a photo here in FOREVER. Anyway the other day I went fishing by the Maine State Aquarium, a little thing they let you do free of charge as long as you sign in. Yes, I somehow managed to catch a crab on a fishing pole. Even the staffer was like "????? how..." He was VERY stubbornly clinging to the hook and eating the bait...
Some Green Crabs (sadly an invasive species...) from Skaket beach in Cape Cod Massachusetts. For an invasive species they were very well behaved sweet babies and did not pinch me too much ;w; makes me sad that they were introduced here by humans and now the poor babies are paying the price. But that’s a discussion for a different post. For now just enjoy these pictures I took of the cuties <3 they were so pretty!
