The Muga Valley in Spain might look like a paradise, but it’s actually what scientists call a green desert. In the nearly dead forest, dense oak trees block out sunlight and drain all the water from the ground.

There’s no light, no water, and almost no wildlife. Even vultures, keystone species and vital scavengers, have disappeared.

In our 32nd mission, we’re doing something completely different to help nature recover: we’re cutting trees.

Forget what you knew about forest restoration or river restoration, this is nature recovery turned upside down.

We’re restoring a dying valley and bringing back vultures in one of the boldest rewilding projects in Europe.
