Release 2.1.1: Who’s rocking the jungle? (fair edition)

Hail to the sustainability champs! Rankings are now explorable. Compare your score with friends and become a celebrity in the jungle. Just go in the “Me” section and click on the “Charts” link. You’ll find two charts:

the Ape Parade: celebrating the most inspiring apes out there. Be creative, get claps, collect likes on Facebook for your shared actions and make it to the top. Prizes coming soon.

the Green Chart: the greenest apes are leading here. Live sustainably, share actions, earn weekly nuts for your behaviours. Who’s having greatest positive impact?

PS. a little nutquake (i.e. redistribution of nuts) is taking place in these hours, don’t panic:

- the nuts you earned in the past will contribute to your current Ape Rank more than they used to

- greenStones will give you nuts for your sustainable behaviours only in the weeks in which you’ll pass by in the jungle

Release 2.1! New Profile and Direct Messages

greenApes 2.1 is now on the App Store, introducing a lot of stuff we're excited about.

Did you see that Messages balloon up there? A-ha, you can now exchange private messages on greenApes. Time to chat with your favourite apes (and perhaps share that secret recipe you are too jealous about). 

The restyling of the Me section also includes VIF (very important features - an expression I just made up)

Nuts for Stats: a pretty pie-chart giving you direct access to your personal Infograph. Many apes had never seen it on Facebook so we brought it in the app. It takes a couple secs to load, but it's worth waiting

About Me: you can include a short presentation in your profile: drop a line about yourself in the settings page!

The Ape Parade: all you apes are sharing great actions and pictures inspiring the rest of the community. So we decided that the most important ranking in the app will celebrate who's being most inspiring. Earn social nuts with claps, competitions and likes from facebook to make it to the top! Updates coming up soon...

iOS screenshots made easy

Sometimes you have good screenshots of your app with totally wrong top bar (no one care about your carrier, time, battery level..) and you need a quick way to fix them. Believe me or not there are some AppleStore commercial apps to just replace the top bar something that anyone with gimp/photoshop could do in less than 1min30sec. Hopefully there is a quicker and cheap way, enjoy:

Servers are humanizing, here is evidence: they don't like Monday mornings. Our jungle ranking looked like this some hours ago. Waking up in a grumpy mood... wonder what they're up to on weekends.

We thought it could be fun to hear some jungle sounds when you receive notifications from greenApes (e.g. when somebody claps your actions, you win a battle or a question is answered).

I couldn't find neat sounds on the internet -  just several scary screams all over the place . And when I finally found a good sfx-library, it turned out to be taken from "Angry Birds Rio". Now, since stealing sounds from a blockbuster app didn't seem like the smartest idea on Earth, we went for DIY.

The attached file is a pointless collection of impressions of apes, attempted by the greenApes team. Hoping one of us would come up with the perfect sound.

Sharing is scaring.

PS there is one sample that actually comes from a real monkey. If you spot it you're hot.  PPS. search for gorilla sounds on the web and you'll understand why they didn't go for "Angry Apes" and sticked with those birds.

Our story starts here. After approximately 2 years of groundwork and 7 months of development, we launched  greenApes. Which basically means that now we don't sleep anymore because we live to count downloads and posts. Once I thought that after the launch things would get more relaxed. How naive.
