I think I found and followed you because of your Silm fanmixes and just general Silm content. And I read a lot of great books because you rec'd it, like Journey into Mystery, I'm currently reading Disorderly Knights and I have the Doctrine of the Labyrinths books lying around, waiting to be read.

I always love my Silm people. in the fandom or no, y’all are precious to me. 

and also yes! I always love hearing that people take and enjoy my book recommendations, I feel like there are so many good books out there, I read a lot of them, it’s my DUTY to share them

(all three of those are Excellent Choices and thanks for reminding me that my next fiction book is going to be rereading the Lymond Chronicles)

Something else people forget about him:

-It’s Master Elrond, never Lord Elrond. This is a frivolous thing maybe but it occurred to me at some point, that Tolkien refers to him by his title way more frequently than he refers to anyone else by their title, which makes me think it’s significant

-In spite of fandom conventions, he’s not really considered a Noldo by the text (politically ofc he belongs to Gil-galad but identity-wise the Sindarin side is pushed more) - and actually, not completely described as an elf. He’s not excluded from general membership among elves as fastidiously or pointedly as Elladan and Elrohir are in the scenes in RotK where they’re present, but the qualifications still pop up, and when his race is explicitly mentioned, that race is, um, the Dunedain? (“‘Here I must put forth all such power and skill as is given to me,’ [Aragorn] said.‘Would that Elrond were here, for he is the eldest of all our race, and hasthe greater power.’”) Even long after his choice he’s very in-between-y.

Came for the Silmarillion content (esp. the playlists), stayed for the great essays and the Loki feels

man, it’s been a while since I made playlists. maybe I should try doing that again. I have all kinds of new music. (it’s just so much harder after the demise of 8tracks, I feel like there’s no real good playlist-making replacement out there. I guess spotify?)

but ANYWAY I’m glad you stuck around even though I’ve kind of backed out of Silm fandom over the years! :D

10. What made you read the Silmarillion in the first place?

I don’t remember how I learned that it existed...but I was already super into LotR and was absolutely thrilled that there was more Middle-earth stuff out there, and my parents gave me a really lovely illustrated edition for my sixteenth birthday.

12. If you had to describe yourself with a character from Tolkien’s works, who would it be?

A hobbit, almost certainly. Maybe someone like Fatty Bolger, who’s all for adventures in theory but will be very happy to stay home thank you very much, when it comes down to it (although I don’t think I’m nearly as brave as Fatty turned out to be).

Ich finde das Format ist gut so, das liest man sich eher durch als nen Fließtext. Vielleicht könnten noch kurz Besonderheiten oder fun facts oder ein besonders wichtiges Ereignis oder sowas dazu.
