“It can get pretty bizarre,” he says. “It must have been right after Michael Jackson passed away and this guy down in Alabama had made this really bright sign that said ‘Michael Jackson estate sale here.’ I photographed another place in Georgia where people put out a huge 20-foot pink flamingo to draw people in.”

Photographer Greg Ruffing talks about his project photographing yard sales across America, documenting consumer habits, low-budget marketing, the movement of military families and telling evidence of the economic recession.

Things have been quiet on here. I finished my first year of grad school (!!) and then immediately started to prepare work for a show I have opening Saturday. When this is done, I'll get back to the internet.

My friend Greg Ruffing did some writing about my new work, and includes a conversation we had while I've been working on the install. He did a great job with this, I'm super grateful for it. If you have a moment, take a look, I talk about the work in the show and the book project I'll be working on all summer.
