The next time you’re standing outside Buckingham Palace try telling which of the five Foot Guard regiments a soldier is from by looking at his jacket buttons. The Grenadier Guards have a single row of buttons down the front (like the guy in the photo). The Coldstream Guards have their buttons arranged in pairs. The Scots Guards have them arranged in triplets, whilst the Irish Guards have their buttons in fours. And the Welsh Guards have their buttons in fives.

The forgotten heroes
As part of my project for university we have undertaken a brief, we were given the keyword ‘fragile’ and had to photograph a 5 piece story centred on this word.
I revisited Scott, I photographed Scott for part of a portrait project but felt I could have taken more from the shoot. L/Cpl Scott Blaney the first amputee grenadier guard to stand on Queen’s duty protecting the tower of London. Still proudly part of the army, he now travels around the country doing motivational speeches to schools and colleges. I photographed Scott over Easter in his home in Warwickshire.
