New Jonathan Pine story that you all should be reading! I’m loving this one and I can’t wait to know what happens next.
I couldn’t have pulled this together without you cheering me on from the sidelines. I’m grateful for the support and the friendship. And thank you for putting up with my hair pulling and whining and endless questions. You’re so patient, and it means the world to me.

What’s not to love about a Jonathan Pine story
I hope that this story lives up to that statement.

This is AMAZING!!!! I can’t wait for more!!!
More you will have shortly. I’m working on the next chapter already, and i’m really excited for this story. Thank you for your private messages too!
Thank you all, and for the readers that have sent me messages privately. Thank you for taking a few minutes to read the story and even more for letting me know your reactions. It’s inspiring to get any response, and this was more than I thought I would get for a story outside my comfort zone.
@gretchenk0720, thank you so much for this! Thank you for revitalizing this blog. I’ve neglected for too long.
1. What is your favorite fic you have under your belt?
It’s so hard to choose because there’s so much of me in all of them. Depending on my mood and the time of day and the way the wind blows, my answer may change. I have a hard choosing between The Course of True Love Never Did Run Smooth and Regarding Abigail. I would love to go back and re-edit the first few chapters of The Course and Tom & Kristiane’s story. Smooth out the wrinkles. That story was the first that I ever got in my head (long before Tom and Abby happened), and I nearly gave up on it. I actually posted that I’d given up on it, but some readers convinced me to give it another stab... and now it’s complete! :-D
Overall, Regarding Abigail was probably the most fun I’ve had writing a story ever. I really love writing Tom and Abby, and turn their love story into something more. When I originally wrote Upstaged and In His Kiss and even into In Her Arms, those stories/arcs came about by accident. Regarding Abigail did too, but I found a way to include some head canons that had been living in my head since I wrote those arcs.
Writing from the 1st person narrative limits how action moves forward. Upstaged and In His Kiss were all written from Abby’s POV, on purpose. But there were things that influenced Tom, and why he finally came around to claim Abby as his. When I allowed myself to do more than a trilogy for Regarding Abigail, I got to write out some of those things, specifically this one, the scene between Tom and Henry in the subway. That was in my head for about 2 years and I finally found an excuse to write it.
8. How often do people catch onto your little details?
Not as often as I hope they will.... or at least they haven’t told me that they’ve picked up on a subtle clue. There were a few in Tom & Kristiane’s story. There’s a hidden tidbit in a one shot called Chocolate that I don’t think that anyone’s picked up on.
But then, a few readers picked up on the twist that I included in Regarding Abigail before I got there. I foreshadowed it a few times before the twist was revealed, and I do love both: surprising readers and giving them what they expect! Both are really thrilling.
12. What’s the hardest thing to write for you?
All. of. it. I do mean that. I know that there are phrases that I abuse like a dead horse, because I like them. But I rely on them too much! Pushing past those tired old phrases is difficult. I want to get better as a writer, and I know that I need to go further and not use the same old, same old.
15. Give us a snippet of something from your WiPs!
Oooooh, sneaky Pete! Alright... here we go, under the cut for reasons.
This is a flashback in Down With Love, Tom and Kristiane’s sequel. As a little background, Los Angeles is hinted at in the first chapters of the story. This is part of what happens in LA. From Kristiane’s POV (subject to change by the time I get to posting that chapter):
It’s not every day that I’m given a rich fancy pair of gray lace panties and a pink five blade Gillette razor as a gift by my best friend of ten years with the express wish that I shave and get dressed. Leaning on the doorframe of our private hotel bathroom, I stared incredulously at the two items, one in each hand, convinced Terry had either lost his mind or this was his way of telling me he’d decided to become a woman.
However, knowing Terry as well as I did, he enjoyed his dick too much to be willing to part with it. Proof enough could be found in the late night long distance phone calls he shared with his boyfriend, someone I’d yet to meet or speak to, but knew the last time he had sex. It was Wednesday night with Terry over the phone, and I’d heard half of the details through the thin wall that separated my bedroom and his. That was the night before we flew out from New York City, taking our east coast sensibilities on an early morning flight to the west coast, the surf and sand and laid back personas.
In lieu of an explanation of the ‘girly’ gifts, Terry ordered, “Shave, clean and dress,” he pointed to the panties absently. “My kitten, you’ll get makeup and hair instructions while you’re… in… there.” He made a gesture of scrubbing that resembled something obscene and I bit the inside of my cheek to keep from bursting out in laughter.
As a gay man, he loved and appreciated women, had seen my lady parts bare and clothed many times since we’d lived and toured together, but somehow still made him uncomfortable. Shocking, really, since Terry had planned and been indirectly responsible for the last time I had sex with my ex-boyfriend and celebrated in the fact that he’d gotten his two best friends laid with each other.
Shoving all thought of my ex and the ache that squeezed at my heart that I felt at the fleeting recall, I muddled through all the possible locales Terry could be taking me with the wardrobe provided, wondering if he’d sold me off to human trafficking, some kind of mail-order bride service, prostitution or exotic dancing. I couldn’t be sure which prospect scared me more.
A five day vacation in La La Land was just the getaway I needed at the close of a production, and Terry’s gift to me. My run in Daddy Long Legs the Musical had been long, but rewarding, more than a year as the lead and more than two years in the same musical. The City of Broken Dreams had been the perfect unwind and relax that I needed to gain perspective back on life since it was as far removed from my life as a Broadway singer and actress.
These excursions after long productions became a ritual for Terry and I to make as a positive closure on a show. I enjoyed my time in Daddy Long Legs very much, but looked forward to answering some of the invitations to audition issued by interested producers, looking for their next ingénue leading lady. Bypassing the cattle call auditions for invitation auditions was an achievement in and of itself, that I’d proven myself a valuable veritable star.
Day two of five, after a few hours working on our embarrassingly pale skin and dangerously low levels of Vitamin D under the infamous Santa Monica beach sun, Terry got cagey about our plans for the evening in the City of Angels. We returned to our Lowes Hollywood hotel room from our requisite frozen yogurt on the boardwalk, my enabler shooed me into the bathroom almost at once.
But if Terry planned to sell me off to the next highest bidder or in exchange for a drug cartel, that’d complicate and delay my return to center stage. “What’s my rate… you know for the next John to ask?”
I didn’t get so much as a smirk from Terry for the health helping of sass. “Listen, hoe, we ain’t got time for your lip. Do as you’re told.” He smacked my ass playfully after turning me towards the interior of the bathroom.
I should know better than to outsass a sasser. Spinning the lacy undergarment around my forefinger, I smart-assed back, “My other pimp gave me more costume, not to give away the good before money changes hands.”
“Get in the fucking shower, woman.”
“The name’s Lacy if they ask,” I joked, placing my girly gifts on the vanity.
“Okay then, get in the fucking shower, Lacy.”
Before he closed the door behind me to give me a modicum of privacy that he’d undoubtedly violate anyway, I held the razor in question up. “You do remember that I shaved right? You saw me in a bikini on the beach this morning.”
“Doesn’t hurt to do it again—“
“—razor burn does—“
“—just get in there, turtledove,” he pointed toward the glass enclosed shower and closed the bathroom door with me inside.
