Their legs tire from the endless travels in search for the old ruins that held the Eluvhian. Alistair was surprised Duncan allowed the fellow warden to join him in his search, after all there was no telling when they would return to Ostagar and prepare for the battle. “Come, Alistair. We are near the ruins.” The taint pulsed through his veins, every step closer causing his body, the taint, to react, and he was almost certain Duncan felt the same. He shuddered “Alright, Alright.” Alistair moved to the side of the other warden. “So what is it we’re-” The raise of Duncan’s hand silenced the Warden, his own hand quick to move to the hilt of his sword, slowly pulling it out the sheath. The older warden shook his head and placed his hand on Alistair’s arm, his focus on the trees drowning their vision from whatever Duncan was detecting. “The Eluvhian’s been activated, we must hurry!” Duncan began to run and Alistair soon followed the others actions. Upon approaching the ruins, the painful grunts of another individual became visible, it was a Dalish elf. He was dragging a fellow Dalish out of the ruins, his blonde locks sticking to his cheeks as sweat fell from his forehead. Duncan and Alistair made their way toward the conscious elf. A sigh of despair came from the Senior warden as they approached the two elves. “Is everything alright, friend?” the elf collapsed to the ground, his chest heaving from exhaustion. “Take... her.” His voice broke between pants. Alistair and Duncan exchanged looks, they knew what was wrong. They both had the taint. Alistair crouched down to check the pulse of the unconscious elf, gently grabbing her hand and placing two fingers on her wrist. “She’s still alive, what should we do, Duncan?” The focus of the senior warden remained on the elf who had pulled his friend from the ruins. His neck was corrupted by the taint, his veins were as dark as a the joining goblet. Duncan knelt beside the elf and placed his hand on his back. “Where’s your clan?” The elf raised his head, Alistair saw the death and corruption through the Dalish’s pale eyes. “Follow the path... they are not far.” Duncan nodded and placed his hand on the elf’s forehead. “You and your friend are safe, we will take you back to your clan.” Duncan glanced toward Alistair. “Take her to her clan, I will go into the ruins and make sure there isn’t any danger.” Alistair nodded, he adjusted his body as he reached below the Dalish elf and picked her up, he began to make his way toward the clan.
