came back for some more attempts and finally got awakened levi down. orb count? 13. lol. more than all the others combined. could've been less if i cared about keeping it low (could've done more practice flicking orbs on regular version but initially I was convinced I could just wing it/dps it instead). also lost some attempts to not really getting the lower stun timer... yeah idk why levi's mechanics come less naturally to me but it just took some minimal practice. vard took 3 tries (similar story of realizing 'oh i have to try a LITTLE BIT at the beginning before I dps it down?) and the others took 1 each. (undeservedly proud of my lucky 1-and-done on whisp.)
now just the inferno speedrun to goooo! hopefully will be able to bang this out on this first (second) attempt lol (first of TODAY). now that I know the guaranteed ko barrage strat... idk why i didn't think of that before, I was too stuck in the 't6 ranged is the most powerful thing' mindset.
ngl i thought the 30 min inferno tile was gonna be pretty free, but I just ran it (trying to be fast, but not having looked up any speed strats in particular, other than using Last Stand to just annihilate zuk) and came out with 36 minutes... oof, gonna take more work than i thought. hopefully there are some easy solves i wasn't doing.. i was a little sloppy yea bc i'm not experienced and tried not to let last stand proc on any of the waves bc i wanted it as insurance in case i actually fucked up... maybe i just need to lean into that and trust myself, let last stand proc to blow up a bunch of the more populated waves? i also feel like i was losing a ton of time to nibblers, i brought some (gray) chins but i really dont wanna have to go catch a bunch more... should look up what the meta is... i used a venator bow for them in leagues but i dont wanna grind that out if i dont have to, even at 8x drop rates that's like 60 muspah on rate... maybe there's something i'm missing with a way to take advantage of khopesh or something but idk i thought t6 ranged just kinda rules all
Started trying to learn colo in gridmaster today and I am heartened by the early waves being not too bad to pick up… but wow does my brain just short circuit when the spawns don’t nicely stack themselves. Or mainly when there is a manticore in the middle. I can do a manticore on its own, but a manticore while also dealing with the fremenniks is a challenge for my pea brain. And then god forbid a Minotaur comes out at the same time… with a buncha relics farthest I’ve made it is wave 10 and I don’t really know how to do Sol either so even if I make it there I expect it will take me several tries… he has a bit too much HP to just burst down even with last stand so I’ll have to practice a bit more in the simulator… but I’m determined to do this at least in the grid mode… and hopefully retain some skills for the maingame. (I’m trying to do it ‘right’ as much as possible and not proc last stand unless I can’t do anything else)
just did a solo (regular) tob in gridmaster... anticipating that with all the combat buffs, that would feel about the same as soloing an entry mode in the maingame, and yknow what? that's exactly what it feels like.
i did waste 30 minutes tho bc after going thru it very slowly the first time (mostly xarpus wasted time bc he do be having lots of health when you solo) i realized, in the middle of verzik p2, that i had forgotten a poison weapon, and that is not something you can get around even with an inventory full of megas and echo items. you just cannot do it without a poison weapon. lol
fortunately got a purple on that first clear so i never need to talk to anyone to complete this mode haha what who said that? (i might do some pick up group raids here once i finish the board but i just get nervous about fucking up even in a mode like this i dont want people to think i'm an idiot who is bad at pvm)
just did my first ever yama kill in gridmaster (haven't gone there in maingame yet bc i'm dry for synapses and been putting off a TD task for 6+ months) and i was like "i'm super buffed let me just figure this out withot looking at a guide..." (i know the very basic mechanics of the boss like the hopscotch segment, and stepping on the glyphs to protect from specials, from having seen discussion/watched some videos, but never really internalized the actual strategy beyond that).
and oh my god that dude got hands. well, specifically, the ENRAGE PHASE has hands. the rest of the fight seems pretty damn easy, with potential to mess up badly, but kinda like TOA in that way. the enrage phase though is so goddamn frightening. i couldnt even tell if maging or meleeing was better but goddamn how the fuck are you supposed to dodge all that shit without a tile pack telling you exactly where to click. (this is not me complaining about the content. i think it's cool that there is content that is so difficult, but for me, i simply cannot imagine processing all of those overlapping specials and figuring out how and where and when to click to dodge them all perfectly whilst also watching the boss and killing the void flares. i admire those who are able to process it all and make the tile packs for the rest of us.)
anyway here's another skill issue update: i saw a post on reddit earlier of someone complaining that the megarare voucher reward has no 'confirm' screen saying they accidentally picked a scythe. i laughed at it. then i went and accidentally picked a scythe for my first mega, too. #karma (not too disappointing tho bc a scythe is... also awesome)
wooo woke up early for GM because I was excited... slightly dampened by full task board and seeing no maxing / generally not a huge variety with tasks with a handful of sorta "duplicate" tasks while some skills and content are not touched at all... but still excited! i think based on this board top finishers will definitely be within 24 hours. me, now that i have a job (SLIGHTLY lol gonna goof off while working from home) i won't go as hard as i did for leagues but just gonna take a path that looks FUN through the board rather than efficient. try to route for using some of the less popular echo items maybe (early devil's element rush i'm thinking could be fun??)
anyways still excited to just run and vibe and let's see how long it takes to login to the game this time lol
if i am smart i should try to write/draft all the remaining chapters of my fic in the next 10 days because i am starting to feel the LEAGUES HYPE i mean um grid hype and getting the urge to Theorycraft™ despite having so little info currently
so if i wanna throw myself into that fully i should like... try to get this sorted
