Goofy griffhardt au where (in a timeline where Juliette’s just a friend of theirs and everybody’s single) still-closeted Nick, desperate to keep Hank from continuing to date Adalind, completely panics and to his own mortification tells him that’s he’s in love with him. Hank is shocked but takes it surprisingly well and says they can give it a try- and so now to keep from outing the real reason he wanted Adalind gone Nick has to actually date his partner.
Even though he’s very obviously head over heels Nick convinces himself that he’s doing this for grimm reasons and tells himself he HAS to keep this relationship up to PROTECT Hank so he’s overdoing it trying to be the best boyfriend ever and Hank just thinks it’s cute that Nick is working so hard on this relationship
When Hank eventually finds out Nick accidentally slips up and says something like “thats the real reason I said I was in love with you” and Hank is really hurt and leaves, and in that moment it clicks for Nick that he’s been an idiot and he’s absolutely been pining for his partner for a lot longer then he’s been a grimm, and theres a big dramatic romcom scene where he runs to go get Hank back in the rain or something
