I’m not denying that people have faced discriminatory violence in the past. I’m saying if you have, get a fucking lawyer and don’t use it as a badge to tell other people they don’t belong in your super special exclusive club for marginalized people for assuming they haven’t experienced the same.

And I’m not usually this sappy. I’m a shitposting memer IRL as much as I am on this ridiculous website, but. She’s beautiful from her very core out far past where her body ends. She’s intelligent in a way most people lack-- emotion. She feels things so strongly for herself and for others and for the world around her. She just radiates that feeling that you get on a slightly cool fall day, when the rain is falling gently on the windows, and you’re in your favorite blanket or sweater with a mug of hot beverage and a wistful satisfaction with the simple things in life. 

She loves animals so very much, constantly chirping at our rats or our teeny 7lb dog, Luna. We’re always talking about how eventually we’ll end up with a small zoo of dogs and cats and rats and birds and maybe a pig, fox and raccoon. 

She’s quiet sometimes in that aloof almost brooding sense, completely drawn in on a thought or a memory, refining it and turning it over and examining all sides until she brings it back to the surface. Other times, she speaks so passionately and vibrantly that you get lost on the words and just caught up in riding the whirlwind with her. 

She has wonderful green eyes and porcelain skin and a dainty mouth that looks like the face of a doll. Her hair’s been every hue from pink to sea foam green to platinum blonde to dark brown. She’s proud of her gauged ears, wearing the tunnels as a symbol of dedication and persistence. She always does her makeup before even going out to the store. 

And I can pretty much guarantee you that the second she reads this, she’ll stare for a few seconds, stiffen up in the shoulders, look at the floor and mumble “that’s fuckin gay” and walk away.

I really hate this technicality-scouring argumentative tactic you're using, it's super dishonest, but. I was obviously referring to the fact that, in the original post, you show that you have no idea of the way "gatekeeping" is used in the transgender community, but still feel like your opinion is at all needed on it. Like I said, where has transgender medical gatekeeping _EVER_ referred to emergency rooms? Why did you assume it did?

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black here on the “technicality-scouring argumentative tactic”. 

If you want to say OP’s definition of “gatekeeping” was exclusive to its colloquial use in the trans* community, they wouldn’t have been using it to talk about ace/aros in their original post. 

You can’t “appropriate” the word gatekeeping from trans* people when trans* people didn’t create the word, nor do they even have majority use of it. It’s a pretty common word in the English language. 

I also had commented in my previous response post that I was going to define “lifesaving medical treatment” as being emergency room treatment for immediately life threatening illness or injuries as a clarification.

I said this to explain that things like HRT and Anti-Depressants are not included in this category as they decrease risk of suicide, and are not an active treatment of an immediate life threatening illness or injury.

This definition was used because I felt that including non-immediate life saving medical treatment in your definition of “lifesaving medical treatment” was incredibly misleading in order to create a bigger gap in the comparison. I continued by pointing out that turning this into a difference between gender identity and sexual identity based oppressions was using trans* oppression as a qualifier for being included in LGBT spaces, and unintentionally also dismissing ALL sexuality-based marginalized groups (homosexuals/bisexuals/pansexuals/etc), not JUST asexuals.

Why do you think I’m arguing against literally anything except people using their previous struggle receiving HRT as a claim that they were denied emergency life-saving medical treatment in order to dismiss asexuals as not being Oppressed Enough to be considered MOGAI?

it doesn't matter that they're "commissions" what you're doing is ILLEGAL and you can be sued by any company that feels you have infringed on their profits. i sure hope you have a good enough lawyer to go up against a multi-million dollar company.

Y’know, I think my favorite part out of all of this is that not once until now did anyone bother to send me an ask saying that what I was doing was in any way a problem, and even now it’s as an anonymous threat. As though I’ve gone somehow out of my way to “infringe on their profits” any more than any other adoptable artist or commission artist has. As though there was intent to harm in this in some capacity. 

I have expressly contacted Arenanet to ask if this is against their terms of service. If they have a problem with it, I’ll take it down happily. 

Tumblr really needs to learn how to talk to people who are doing something that makes them uncomfortable or that they feel is wrong, not start witchhunts and callout posts in order to feel morally superior. When you inevitably cross some line doing something innocuous, I wish you a better reception than I had.
