um, hi, i was wondering if you could explain your alien oc's a little more? im a bit confused as to what they are\how they work exactly, just in general. thank you!! and i love your art very much
Hello I'm glad you asked about them :D
I wish I knew who you were!!
Anyways, the alien characters I have created belong to a certain alien race that I've created called Jell Shifters, and they are a strange breed that cannot reproduce with its own species and derives its different forms from its strange and vast gene pool. They're sole purpose is to invade any planet they go to with their own race, but because of their strange reproductive ways they either have to send off other Jell Shifters to find a new planet or keep some of the other species alive for reproductive purposes.
I haven't quite perfected how I wanted the race to be nor did I perfect where in the galaxy they came from, but their first ancestor Nacbeetus came to this planet with a mindset to invade, as that is her species' natural instinct. She was able to trick a human into impregnating her, but unfortunately when she was giving birth that same human found her in her alien form giving birth to other aliens and decided to kill her on the spot because he was afraid of the creature.
He killed her and all the children except 4, which are my alien characters Edvar, Palmer, Griggs, and Norris. They kinda had to raise themselves in a way, going by their natural alien instincts and trying to observe the human's behaviour patterns in order to copy it. They did this until Leonardo Shacklesphear "adopted" them ((he kinda just said he'd take care of them, there were no official documents or anything)).
Also the Jell Shifter species is able to trick their prey because they are able to adapt to certain shapes as long as they extract certain DNA and genes from other species into their own gene pool, which they must do as infants. They start off as jelly blobs, and they disguise themselves as food or liquid for other organisms to ingest and they either pass through the body absorbing certain genes and other DNA fragments or they will remain in the organisms core to absorb genes and other DNA fragments and then burst out of the organism in a violent manner. Whatever they choose is dependent on their nature.
They also have set DNA binaries, which look similar to insects, amphibians, reptiles, and/or cephalapods. It is uncommon but not unusual for some of the JellShifters to get DNA binaries similar to certain plants. DNA binaries is basically what their "true form" looks like. So after they age they morph and look like what their DNA binaries set them to look like. Sometimes their DNA binaries can come from mammals if they take certain mammallian DNA fragments that will replace one of their already chosen DNA binaries ((for example Edvar has a DNA binary similar to a Squid and a Wolf, he must have gotten the wolf binary from being ingested by a wolf)). That process needs to be done earlier on in their infancy because as they grow their DNA binaries become more set and start to take effect on how they look naturally.
Hopefully this helps with understanding their species. If you have anymore questions don't hesitate to ask me!
