Delicious Beef Kofta (Aromatic & Very Delicious)
Kofta is a Middle Eastern dish made from ground lamb or beef mixed with onions, garlic, and spices. The meat mixture often made into logs, patties or balls, and then grilled and served with pita, couscous, salads, dips, and sauces.
My version is very simple, delicious and will take your taste buds to the next level especially with the addition of the harissa paste. Harissa is a hot chili paste that originated in Tunisia, North Africa. It is commonly used as a dip or marinade, or to add to dishes like stews to add vibrant red color and heat. Hope you'll enjoy this delicious kofta :)

KOFTAS: Serving 2-4 persons
400gm ground beef (1 lb)
1 onion chopped
3 garlic chopped
125gm breadcrumbs ( 1 cup)
2 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander/Cilantro
2 tablespoon chopped parsley
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon basil
2 teaspoon harissa paste
1- 1.5 teaspoon salt
Yogurt Sauce:
245 ml Plain yogurt (1 cup)
2 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon harissa paste
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
Couscous:
173 gm couscous (1 cup)
2 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoon parsley
2 cups boiling water
Method:
Koftas:
Add onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, parsley, cilantro, cumin, cayenne pepper and harissa paste. Mix the ingredients well and divide the meat into 7 equal pieces and push and shape the meat onto 7 skewers.
Make them smooth or a bit nubbly (more surface area to brown!). Grill the kofta for approx 5-8 mins, rotating to brown all over.
Yogurt Sauce:
Combine the yogurt sauce ingredients and leave in fridge for at least 20 mins for the flavor to develop (overnight even better!).
Couscous:
In a bowl, add all the ingredients and boiling water. Wrap the bowl and let it sit for 3 mins. Fluff the couscous with a fork and serve immediately :)
