Had he known that people weren’t going to arrive to their little gathering until much later and that Mary, who had coincidentally been the one to convince him to come offer moral support and relief from having to play pretend niceties, wasn’t around just yet- Robert probably would have turned and went back home. But as with all things in his life, it turns out that nothing good ever happens. 

So he finds himself here, staring at the face of the very person he had been trying his best to avoid being alone with. Whatever. He’s going to make this quick and mercifully short.  “Where’s Mary?”
