The more I think of it the more I realize they were literally insane for the way they structures the ARIES lore. The animators were like "yeah we're gonna put this greenscreen segment in the MV to show they're not actually on a bike singing love songs at each other" and then the writers went "no no that was Murdoc adding in the greenscreen thing in post because he was embarrassed and wanted to make it seem like they weren't legitimately on that bike, which they were, because it's all real" and then the lyrics are. They're both high
Part of the appeal, you reflect, is that really he could be singing about anything. Anybody would want a song like this, sung by someone like that, to be about them. Of course, you think, that was the plan all along. He makes eye contact with the camera, and suddenly is staring into the souls of millions. You saw that potential from day one. Anybody would be wondering if he was secretly looking for someone. Singing to a long lost love is so much more romantic than just singing. Anybody would want that. Anybody would want a song like Souk Eye to be about them.
