GRIM ENDS TODAY??? DUDE FUCK ME IM NOT READY FOR THIS
CAN MY FAVORITE ONGOING COMICS STOP BEING EMOTIONALLY DEVASTATING FOR 5 FUCKING MINUTES
new issue of grim in 8 days……💭
grim issue 21 was basically the creators going “ok we have doomed yaoi and doomed heterosexuals we need to round out the trio” and pulling out the doomed yuri card and honestly i love them for that
Jessica and Time being basically revealed to be soulmates(since them falling in love is apparently a universal constant regardless of timeline) would've hit harder if we'd known Time for longer before the reveal. As is, it just feels meh.
With every other character whose love life has come up, the reveal of their love life has provided a look into how they handled relationships with others during earlier parts of their lives/pre-death eras, and thus expanded on their personaltiies. That isn't the case for Jessica's history with Time because she wasn't even dating Time in this timeline. It's just revealed that they've been a thing in lives Jessica can't remember because they aren't really her lives. It's the lives of other hers we haven't been following, which kills my ability to get invested in this relationship because I don't care about other Jessicas. I care about the Jessica we've been following since issue 1, who only just met her supposed soulmate.
Conceptually, a reaper falling in love with the personification of time is interesting, but the execution is bothering me in a way that's hard to overlook.
Maybe my opinion will become more positive as more is revealed. Maybe not. For now,I'll try to be cautiously optimistic.
