I'm infodumping about my Padgett family headcanons. Because I will make the Fawley-Padgett extended family popular by force.
Penelope "Nel" Padgett was in her fifth year during the events of Deathly Hallows, and she was actually made prefect for that year. She was also on the Slytherin quidditch team as reserve chaser up until her final year, where she eventually became one of the main chasers. Both of her parents were Death-Eaters, and while she had very fond memories with her mother, she struggled to reconcile the loving woman she knew and the kind of woman who would take the Dark Mark. She was never too fond of her father though. She was also very worried that her parents wanted her to become a Death-Eater, but because the only student Death-Eater she knew of was Draco, and she had assumed he willingly took the Mark, part of her believed that if she just adamantly didn't want it, they wouldn't force her to take it. She wasn't correct, they planned to force her to take the Mark once Harry was dead, but that never came to be.
As for her parents, Cadmus Padgett and Artemisia Smedley Padgett, they're roughly around the same age as Merula Snyde's parents and Lucius Malfoy. Their marriage was one of convenience, where once upon a time they were in love, but they were forced to marry because their overly affectionate relationship was seen as improper. Cadmus resented Artemisia for this because he was planning to marry a woman of higher social standing, but he was forced to be with one whom he believed he was above marrying. Because as much as he was attracted to her, and made her feel loved, her family were not of notoriety and her passions for painting and reading were a little too non-traditional for the wife he wanted.
The two of them did not become Death-Eaters during the first war, although they were closely aligned with many of them. Specifically they were friends with Merula Snyde's parents (Griffith Priddy and Lilith Snyde Priddy). Cadmus was, during this time, being very rude to his wife about her hobbies and trying to make her the perfect pureblood wife he'd originally wanted. Artemisia raised her daughter to be kinder, and quietly defiant against Death-Eaters. Cadmus ended up joining the Death-Eater's during the plot to resurrect Voldemort, and became a semi-respected member during the following years. When this happened, Artemisia actually planned to leave with Nel, but Cadmus found out and forced her to become one of six female Death-Eaters in the entire franchise so that she would have nowhere else to turn and his family name would not be ruined.
Nel didn't initially find out this extent of things, since both of her parents ended up in Azkaban and she was far too scared to visit them. When she eventually did visit them, she ended up forgiving her mother, and then went on to become an Auror because she wanted to assist in making sure nothing like what happened to her mother happened to any other woman. During this time, she fell in love with Grim Fawley, a slightly younger man who bonded with her over her love of Quidditch. His parents had died during the Battle of Hogwarts, and no family had been able to take him in so he was raised in an orphanage, and the two bonded despite their very different origins, with no judgement. They were coworkers though, so they kept it secret for a while, until Gareth Greengrass gave Grim Fawley an offer to become an Unspeakable.
Grim and Nel got married, they ended up having fraternal twins, Addison and Melody (Addison's gender is somewhat unclear because most sources say male, but a few say female, general fanon consensus is trans-masc without a name change). Years later, Nel was cursed by Gareth Greengrass to be trapped inside a painting in her office, and then transfigured that into a paperweight. The Aurors could not find her, the case went cold, and she stayed missing for three years before Grim did anything. He used his resources to study dark magic -- becoming the first dark wizard from Hufflepuff house -- and used a spell to create The Calamity, which was a series of magical incidents that almost exposed wizards to muggles. Only when The Calamity Investigator [Player Character], Harry Potter and a few others found Nel did he stop the spell. He doesn't appear to have ever been officially arrested for it though, seemingly because of a lack of proof or because Harry let him free.
This did create a wedge in their marriage, and Addison and Melody were left traumatised by Grim's neglect and their mother's disappearance, plus they had Death-Eater grandparents and a dark wizard who got away with it for a father, so their social standings were utterly ruined. It's fine, Albus and Scorp get it. Grim and Nel did eventually work through things, although she never quite forgave him fully for becoming the very thing his parents and she herself fought very hard to prevent from rising into power. Nel's also a little upset that her mother got a life sentence for doing what she had to to survive, and Grim got no punishment for revenge. Their marriage is strained, but they do desperately want things to go back to normal, especially because they don't want to cause problems for their kids. Addison and Melody just want them to divorce.
Also, I named Artemisia that because her daughter gets turned into a painting, and I thought naming her after a famous painter who was abused would be interesting. Cadmus is just to be a kind of generic Anglicised Greek name, since Penelope is a Greek name but also just fairly common.
