28 Days of Grimm, Day 8
Favorite Fandom In-Joke: What is that character's full name?!
Throughout Grimm, there were a surprising amount of recurring and even main characters whose full names we didn't know for multiple seasons. Wu, Monroe, Monroe's parents Bart and Alice. We didn't find out Wu's first name until season 3. And in Monroe's case, we never found out! Even when we meet his parents, even after we see his wedding to Rosalee, it's never clear what his full name is, or even whether Monroe is his first or last name.
But hey, we embraced that! So much so in fact that when an early TV spot erroneously listed his name as Eddie Monroe, Silas Weir Mitchell and many fans were quick to correct the mistake (which is why you'll see a lot of early fics that say Eddie Monroe on them, and why "Just Monroe" is a pretty common tag both here and on AO3).
Another thing I loved that's more Grimm fandom lore than an in-joke is how much the cast and crew embraced the city of Portland and were embraced right back.
The cast lived there all six years the show ran. The network hired local workers and companies for the crew. There's a plaque and a grove of trees dedicated to Grimm in Pier Park. Sasha Roiz helped create an endowment for the local Doernbacher Children's Hospital and organized the cast for an annual Grimm Gala to raise funds for it. And for years Portland's famous Voodoo Donuts had donuts on the menu named after the actors and characters.
It made the show feel like more than just entertainment. It was part of the community in Portland.
Watching Grimm as a German is way too funny.
Honestly I love this series so much.
hey I only just got into grimm and I wanted to ask whether theres a discord server or something? Or really, any place where fans actually talk about it considering even the tags on tumblr here are pretty deserted..
Honestly, I don’t know. I feel like I remember something to do with a discord server or chat group for Grimm a couple of years ago but I have no idea what it was or whether it’s still active, most of my fandom involvement was on tumblr.
Anyone else have an answer? Other FYNB admins or our followers?
Nadalind~How Does A Moment Last Forever
beautiful Nadalind video by Beth Mattie
Nick: Monroe I need help, you busy?
Monroe: *Remembers the wedding he has to plan, the relationship with his parents he has to fix, a discussion he needs to have with Rosalee, a job he has that day, 4 calls he needs to make, a bedroom he has to clean, the dinner he has to cook and the possible danger of death that usually comes with helping Nick*
Monroe: Not at all, let's hit the trailer.
Most relatable thing ever to happen in Grimm was in 3x21 when Josh says "At least I know my dad wasn't crazy... unless all of you are" and everyone in the room just looks up like "Huh. Ya know what Josh-"
A Grimm Fanfic
Since the Grimm series finale royally sucked, I have really been wanting to write a fic that rewrites the entire last season. My initial plot will still hold with the show, but I have some ideas that will make everything mesh a bit better. I want to write it, but I’m not sure if anyone would be interested in reading it? If this sounds interesting to anyone, please let me know! If enough people contact me, I will start planning for this arduous project and give updates. I might even start a secondary blog dedicated to it if it gains a lot of support. Thanks guys, stay groovy! 😘
