GrimmFuture!au tidbit: Ruby dreams of Pyrrha
Glancing around Ruby saw next to nothing, only slight silhouettes of trees, slowly her eyes adjusted to the darkness and the lifeless landscale of grey dead trees and barren earth appeared before her. "What's...going on?" "Ruby..." Ruby jolted her head up, looking towards the tips of the trees which looked almost malicious and alive, trying to find the source of the too familiar voice. She heard it call out again, a little softer this time and began running forward trying to catch up to the sounds, the land around her staying the same regardless of how fast or how long she kept running. The voice only getting softer and softer and softer, she could never catch it, she could never make it to the voice before it stopped completely, always failing. Ruby fell to her knees, panting in the middle of the dead woods, no scenery has changed, and then the voice starts up again, "Ruby..." Ruby struggled to stand up, determined to start running again but fell immediately, her face splashing against what is now darkened water. Ruby attempted to gasp for air but none filled her lungs, she clutched her throat and looked around in a panic, only to see a golden glimpse shoot past her, the water now consuming Ruby's body whole, leaving her submerged in liquid darkness. "Pyr...rha..." Ruby managed to spurt the words out through the water that choked her, and spun around to face her fallen comrade who she couldn't save, "Pyrrha...I'm....sorr-" The sentence finished with a horrified gasp, where Pyrrha should have been stood Cinder, holding Pyrrha's limp body in her arms, she walked around Ruby in a circle, perfectly unaffected by the water that continued to pin Ruby to a fixed spot in what can only be assumed to be the air, she eyed Cinder, who returned the stare with a monstrous grin on her face. "Oh my darling Rose...look at her," Cinder lifted Pyrrha's corpse to Ruby's face, causing the latter to choke on the water prison keeping her still, "If only you were fast enough, fast enough to help her fend off those little Ursai." Cinder's smile grew into an inhuman horror, "But you weren't," with that Pyrrha was dropped, and plummeted into the darkness below Ruby. Ruby could only scream, the entire cage of water surrounding her flooding its way into her lungs, letting her drop to the ground onto her hands and kness coughing and gasping for air. "It's too bad, but you did the right thing, coming to me after that day." Cinder walked around Ruby in a full circle again, stopping in front of her and grabbing onto Ruby's face, digging her nails into her cheeks, "You went to me that day, just as you're coming after me now. For the same reason." Cinder leaned in and slowly licked Ruby's lips, causing her to shudder and grimace in a pained disgust, "Because I /own/ you." Ruby could only shake in fury and fear, laying defenseless on the barren earth that has returned out of nowhere, she glared up at Cinder smiling face, and then at the clawed hand that raised up, "But you've been very...very naughty recently." Her voice seemed to change into an almost disappointed tone, "And I had so much hope for you..." With that Cinder slashed her hand down across Ruby's face, causing her vision to flare red and then go black completely, Ruby could only feel the nails slashing into her face over and over again. Could only hear Cinder's screaming curses mixed with awful lustful praise. Ruby could only feel herself begin to scream as she felt the nails take a final swing, this time through her neck. Opening her eyes Ruby saw the same roof of the Atlassian inn she fell asleep to, looking over she saw Yang, sleeping soundly on her cot, whispering something unintelligible to herself. Ruby sat up and brought her legs to her chest, wrapping her arms around them and stared at her own weapon, and that of her late Uncle's sitting at the edge of her own cot. "Just a dream Ruby..." "Just a dream..."
