houseki no kuni/land of the lustrous is. well its everything. protagonist of theseus. identity and change. japanese steven universe. extremely buddhist aesthetics. moon's haunted. no gender left rock. even looking up what the protagonist looks like is a spoiler on a massive scale. im halfway thru and utterly fascinated. manga good???
watched project hail mary for the second time tonight 👍 when the story is ultimately a series of questions on whether or not you will die, and what the circumstances will be when it happens. when the story begins with death and ends with choosing to live. when the story is about saying, and not saying, goodbye. it guts me.
btw yesterday i had carne asada sushi at a mexican sushi fusion place and 1. that was my first time ever eating meat in sushi and oh my god i get it now 2. best thing ive ever goddamn had. food beamed down from heaven into my mortal hands.

one of these days imma finish and post my essay on amatonormativity in fanwork. cause like. theres so much amatonormativity in fan culture to begin with, and with it so much arophobia and acephobia. amatonormative ideas are the backbone of so much of shipping culture. but specifically when you look at fanwork, you see how plainly slashfic is built on the amatonormative idea of valuing romance above all other relationships, and seeing romantic milestones as essential and universal when..... no. its more complicated than that.
im aro, but i'm also a shipper. i get why people put romance into everything. i get the appeal. and i reject the old (god i hope its old at this point) homophobic arguments against shipping. the issue is, in fact, that it's not queer ENOUGH.
i think if people took a more holistic look at relationships, rather than an "romance (real) vs. everything else (insignificant)" approach, we'd get to be a lot more creative in how we write relationships, and we'd end up excluding a lot less people in the process. i also think people need to evaluate within themselves if romantic milestones (intimacy, marriage, cohabitation/sharing resources, having children, etc) are the right milestones for every story. but more than anything, i think we need to value types of relationships the same- value connections between people as a whole, not specific patterns of actions and feelings. there is a platonic explanation for that. your relationship can always be more queer. and if you end up playing in amatonormative concepts, acknowledge all of it.
its a whole medium of work to talk about. there exists slashfic without injected romanticism. there exists as well the added axis of sexual relationships and how they are mischaracterized. there are also real people in the mix, and that is a subject maybe too large for me to handle. stay aware of all the ways people value romance above all. essay coming maybe, or soon.
made tortillas today. excellent food. 10/10. made heavenly by frying in a little butter. there is nothing else better than eating a fresh tortilla straight from the pan. this is your sign to make tortillas and eat them hot and fresh.
does anyone remember the kaleidoscopic straight gay sex scene from the hannibal tv show. cant even say ''what did they mean by that'' its Right There.
