"Another day is going by, nee, onii-chan?" She asked, glancing out the window before turning back to the small shrine she had created for her beloved brother. The male in the photo smiled at her, causing her to smile back just as happily-- if not, happier. With her knees underneath her and her hands clasped together, she bowed at the picture.
--Or at least, tried to. She had miscalculated the distance and made contact with the wooden surface of the shrine, a pain shooting up and goin down her spine. A small cry emitted from her lips as she jerked back up, hands going to her forehead. "Ehe, oops. Gomen, onii-chan! Looks like I forgot how close you were." She apologized, the same smile still on her face.
Never did she feel lonely. Not even once. It was true, that back in the earlier days the emptiness that was usually filled by her brother seemed huge, but things changed. She had made new friends, new acquaintances, and was happier than before. But all through this, she never ceased in forgetting her brother. She spoke to him every morning, and every night right before she went to sleep at night when the moon was up-- and right after she woke up when the sun was high in the sky.
She spoke to him about random things. She talked about her day, her friends, and how much she loved him. She told him about a new recipe she had found, even to telling him the weather and how it effected her. Her brother was her best friend.
Be careful, Orihime. And the day passed by pretty quickly, didn't it?
And at times, she could hear his serene, soft voice replying. It might have been her imagination, and it might have been false, but that didn't stop her from believing it was her brother coming down for their daily conversation. Even if she coudn't see him, she felt his warm hand on her shoulder.
"Haaai, I promise!" She nodded, small fists clenching in front of her chest in determination as she made a face similar to the ones the man with the vibrant orange hair made.
She wondered what he was doing--
A violent pulsate. A fluctuation of reiatsu surging towards her direction. It almost suffocated her, a sharp gasp escaping her lips as she quickly rose from her spot.
This reiatsu was familiar. --No, it was these.
"Kurosaki-kun!" She spun around and headed for the door, reaching for her jacket before she realized she hadn't said a proper goodbye to her brother. She ran back to the living room, and bowed ninety degrees with her hands in front of her. "Gomen nee, onii-chan! I'll be back later!"
She forgot her jacket as she dashed out the door, not even checking to see if it was locked. She ran, her heart pounding hard in her chest and causing it to ache. But all she could think of was the male. Was he in danger?
Who's reiatsu did the other one belong to?
As she ran to the scene, she realized she was late when Ichigo's reiatsu disappeared altogether. Just as she was about to go search for him, another reiatsu-- a flickering, nearly lifeless reiatsu stopped her.
There on the ground was a person with bright blue hair, the floor crushed under their body with fragments of the cement scattered around them. They were breathing heavily and--
She ran to the other, already calling out to her shields without checking who it was. "--Souten kisshun!" The fairies flew to the person, reaching them before she did, and wrapping them around a yellowish-orange barrier.
When she finally reached the person, she was breathless as she collapsed to her knees. That was when she got a view of the wounded man.
