“Why do we always find the criminals but actual law enforcement doesn’t?”
“That’s..that’s a good question.”
The sounds of two muffled girls were heard in the trees. Yes, somehow someway, Yang and Blake stumbled across what seemed like a convoy of the White Fang heading through the forest. The two had nothing to do for the rest of the day so it was decided that they’d share a peaceful walk through the densely packed tree region. Course they weren’t expecting finding armed guards and a convoy.
“These are probably the guys that were at the abandoned city.”
“Can they really? It’s miles from here.”
Blake turned to face Yang, making sure to keep herself hidden in the bush.
“Yang, the White Fang is a lot bigger than you can imagine. It wouldn’t be a surprise if they had multiple bases in the forest. Chances are the reason no one has spotted them yet is because they’re well hidden.”
“Yeah guess they’d have to be if you wanna hang around those giant Grimm.”
“Yeah..Get down!”
“…is that the rest?”
A man was heard saying to his partner at his side.
“Yep seems so. Have any clue why they want so much damn dust?”
“No idea, hell I don’t even think they know why they want some. Did you hear about the accident with the train?”
“Pfft who hasn’t? The entire city was overrun by those things. One of my friends was actually on it.”
“Really? Did he come out okay?”
“Well other than a few cuts and scratches along with a bruised up face. Some girl in blonde supposedly slugged him right off the train. Poor bastard didn’t stand a chance.”
Yang suppressed an urge to laugh and settled for a smirk as Blake watched with subtle amusement.
“He also told me that she was there.”
“She?”
“Blake, remember her?”
The smirks were gone replaced with attentive attitudes.
“Oh her? What was she doing there?”
“Supposedly with her team.”
“Hah! Her being a huntress? That’s a funny joke. Hell I’m sure the only reason she is even in that academy is because she was useless anywhere else.”
“Tell me about it.”
Blake noticed Yang visibly tense up with clenched fists.
“Remember how she nearly killed that guy a couple years ago? She was like what? 12?”
“Yeah, I mean the guy had it coming for attacking us but the anger in her was scary.”
“Glad I’m not the only one. You think she actually killed anyone?”
“Wouldn’t doubt it if she was hanging around with Adam. Glad he stopped her bratty attitude. “We got to resolve this peacefully! We have to not fight them!” What an idiot.”
“I wish she would’ve just died. She was a waste. A spoiled brat like her didn’t help us one bit. She was useless.”
“Next time I see her, I’ll remind her who left those scars.”
Blake felt wounds in her heart opening as she remembered the scorn she received when she brought up these ideas. Back then she was trying to help everyone but no one listened. Over time, she became bitter and lashed out at anyone. She remembered the man they talked about. She remembered the attempt to settle things without violence. She remembered the rocks and blows dealt to her. She remembered finally snapping.
Blake was pulled from her thoughts as heat began to radiate from the side of her. She turned and nearly gasped as she realized Yang was looking as though she absorbed the sun. The ground beneath the soles of her feet began to turn to ash as her eyes gleamed a blood red.
“Yang wait not now. Calm down.”
Blake said as she tried to keep her voice down. The convoy was starting to fade between the brush of the forest but she didn’t want to risk getting into a fight with so many enemies. Yang burning down the forest wouldn’t really help either.
“How can I?! After what they said! They don’t deserve to breathe!”
“Yang please control yourself! Its fine! It’s all in the past!”
Blake tried to grab a hold of Yang’s shoulder but pulled back in pain as her hand felt like boiling water was dumped on it.
“They did this to you! All those things! How can you say that!?”
Yang said in anger. Her flames seemed to ramp up in intensity as the wild life around her began to catch aflame.
“It’s okay Yang I promise I’m fine! I’m not with them anymore, I’m safe with you! Please calm down!”
“No! They caused you so much pain! I’m gonna kill them!”
“Do that and you’re no better than them!”
“What?..”
“Give in to your emotions and slaughter them because we both know you can but if you do that you’ll be exactly like them. Killing unnecessarily and letting your emotions drive you without logical thought. Think about it, we can tell one of the professors about this and we might find their base of operations. The law enforcement could surround them and it’ll all be over. We can’t do that if you stop them right now.”
“But..Blake.”
Yang’s voiced quivered with anger as she tried to control herself.
“They did this to you. They made your life hell. No matter what I do, I can’t change that. They deserve to pay.”
“I know they did, and trust me when I say I want to take my revenge on them. I don’t because I have you guys.”
“Blake?..”
“You and your sister were the first people to actually treat me like a human being in years. Ruby reminded me so much of how I used to be. I wanted to protect her. Same goes with you. I could tell something happened to you in the past and instead of becoming me, you came to terms with it and didn’t let it control you. When I found you in the forest, I was extremely glad. Both you and Ruby reminded me that there was light in this world. Heck even Weiss made me understand why she felt how she did and we both reconciled. You guys mean the world to me because without you, my world would be in darkness.”
Yang slowly started to lose her flames as tears began to form in her eyes.
“Blake..”
Blake went up to Yang and embraced her. She didn’t care about anything right now, just Yang. The convoy can wait. The sensation of her arms burning from Yang’s still hot arms can wait. The only that mattered was Yang. The mentioned girl starting to cry as she returned the embrace. She felt so useless for not being able to help her past but what Blake said to her struck a chord within her. It dispelled any fear she had over her. It made her finally release the worry and doubt she had in herself.
They held each other for what seemed like hours before they finally separated.
“Yang? You alright?”
“Yeah…I’m fine…Let’s go home.”
They both walked back their previous path. One with her past eased from the girl next to her, one with vows to spend her life protecting the girl next to her; Both knowing that their bond will last longer than lifetimes.
A/N: (Feels so awesome being the one to actually write one of these A/N things!) It’s past 2 in the morning and I haven’t slept over 5 hours in the past two days so please excuse the quality of this…thing. It’s bad. Course I can’t actually wait till morning to actually properly read this since my guilt prevents me from doing so enjoy this thing I’d like to call fic. Now will you excuse me as I go pass out on the floor? Oh. Also. Don’t have the mental power to namethis so just call it whatever suits your fancy.
