The next Fakemon is Velvelt and Grissly, another standard two stage evolution. They’re…not great.

Velvelt is the Cub Pokemon, a pure Normal type that’s fairly common in Tahook. It seems like it’s supposed to be a teddy bear with that Dex entry, but it doesn’t really go anywhere. It’s design seems to just be an edit of Teddiursa with one hand turned into a giant claw and given little shoulder pads. If you wanted to go with a teddy bear Pokemon, why not go with something different instead of just changing an existing one?

Grissly gains the Fighting type, along with the moniker of the Savage Pokemon. It seems like it’s trying to link with the teddy bear theme of Velvelt by that little tail ball that makes it go crazy, maybe? The design for Grissly itself isn’t very good either. It’s certainly different than Velvelt/Teddiursa and even Ursarang, but it’s hard to tell what it’s going for. And why is it half Fighting? What about being a bear makes it Fighting? Another bear Pokemon could be cool, but it’s not executed well here.

The weakest of the Fakemon so far, the Velvelt line gets one ridiculously buff Pikachu out of five.
