First taste of wine not as eloquent as I thought it would be.

I drank some wine that made my soul sad. I don't really know much about wine, but this was a pinot noir(cap rock pinot noir) and it tasted like meat...a beef-ish after taste. Is that a thing? Like i pictured a very rare steak being rung out into my glass-just bitter weird meat flavor, very strong at the end. What is that and how do i avoid drinking it ever again?
