Gargoyles of the world
What can I say? Grott's one of a kind!
I would like to call myself an artist. If you're being generous, you'd say I'm an amateur. If you're being realistic, you'd say I'm bad. I'm bad at drawing. Not inherently so, not uniquely so; I've gotten better over time, but it's hard to find the motivation to keep improving, so my skills have stagnated and my art is still at a level I would call bad. Every so often I hear the siren's song of ai in the distance. It's everywhere, it's integrated into every mainstream piece of software, every OS, every social media platform there are talentless hacks who've never drawn a day in their life who still manage to get by using ai to make art for them. Companies want you to think ai is the future, that resistance is futile. Maybe it's not so bad, I sometimes think. Maybe if I just fed it my own art, maybe if I only used it to make reference images, maybe, maybe, maybe...
NO!
That is the devil talking. If I used ai, it would only make my bad art worse. I would never be able to respect myself, I'd lose the respect of my friends and followers, and every single real artist whose work I admire would write me off as a lying, cheating, thieving, takentless hack, and rightfully so. I have too much integrity to stoop down to that level. I am a bad artist, but that still puts me lightyears ahead of the ai techbros who don't even want to try.
My art is ugly, and I'm proud.

I usedro draw Grott's horns curving forward, now I draw them curving back. I still think this is my favorite piece I've ever drawn:

My friend @nsomniacsdream had a stroke the other day and requested a drawing of my little monster OC Grottweiler visiting him in the hospital. When I heard the news, I was at a loss for words.
If you can spare anything, please consider donating to his medical bills.

Calvin and Hobbes was syndicated 40 years ago this November
It ended two years before I was even born, but my mom had all the books and I grew up reading it. Bill Watterson is a major inspiration of mine.
Grott doesn't much care for tuna fish, but he'd do anything for a peanut butter and nutella sandwich!
