A: My Brightest Diamond - “Ceci Est Ma Main” (Groundlift Remix)
Shara Worden has one of the most powerful and versatile voices around. Case in point--in addition to fronting her experimental pop/rock band My Brightest Diamond, she also recently composed and performed her own baroque opera across opera houses all over the globe. If that's not the definition of multi-talented, I don't know what is! This track is her at her pop best; take a classically-trained, operatic voice singing in French, set it over a pulsing beat and blaring horns, and somehow you have a compelling pop track that can make you want to get up and dance with the best of them. Try it in the original English-language version as well for a stripped-down, almost solemn-sounding contrast to the remixed track. Both versions are gripping, but I'm partial to the sense of upbeat intensity in the remix.
