Still Lifes Life's Lives Things. :-)
I have gathered quite a collection of collections since I have been here. I decided I'm going to start photographing them. There are a million different ways... the above shots were just done yesterday evening to see about getting my camera and tripod set up by the window I want to use as light.
The background is parchment paper laid over a medium-dark brown coffee table. I think I would prefer it more of a light beige, so I'll have to work on that, but I do like the texture. Like I said, the lighting is all natural from a nearby large window, done late in the day. I want to try adding reflectors and a friend suggested small mirrors, to see what that does to the light.
All of my collections are natural things, found in my walks and travels, so I wanted to keep the settings and tones very neutral and organic, with the focus on the shapes and textures of the items. But, I'm going to also play around with different textures for the backgrounds, some colour, also lighting the objects from underneath using a patio table with a glass top (if I can just get my darn speedlight working!!!)
I had big plans for today but they didn't come to fruition due to not being able to find the charger for my camera battery (it seems to be one of those things I continually put in a "safe place" that's mostly just safe from me....) then not being able to get my speedlight to turn on. So I picked oranges and cleaned instead. lol
But I'll post more as I work on them. Got any suggestions for shooting still life images?
