layla is not aware of the song her voice softly sings, dancing through the night barely a whisper. the full moon sparkled off the pool water perfectly, the glow setting a calming ambience around her, candles also contributing to the distraction of her from realizing the siren song that left her lips. she was prohibited to her pool in her backyard the full moon temporarily getting rid of her legs but it is way better than being confined to a bathtub. in her foster home, she had to suffer countless hours crammed into the small space, mermaid tail not even able to be covered in water. now layla had all this room to swim freely but she found herself extremely lonely. it’s what she considers to be the worst part of the full moon, the loneliness that consumes her driving the need to touch anyone or anything. she usual can control her needs and consider them just wants but the full moon seemingly makes everything opposite for her. layla floats on her back imagining the ripples of the water as hands dancing over her body, the sound of her garden gate squeaking snapping her out of the trance
there isn’t anymore singing coming from her lips, layla is silently moving to the walls of the pool, shielding herself from anyone’s view. though is that what she really wanted to do ?? no, she really wants is to see who the stranger that found themselves in her presence was and if they were aware they were her cure for the night. ❝ w-who is there ?? ❞ her voice is small and soft but echos through the quiet night. being a mermaid was a secret she kept well, only letting some know the truth, and now whoever standing in her backyard has the possibility of knowing her secret as well. ❝ you shouldn’t be here !! i-i’m naked !! and i have a very angry pitbull that could probably rip your face off. ❞ a lie. tank was snoozing softly in his dog bed inside the home and would never hurt anyone. alas, it was an attempt to drive them away.
