hello!! I just found your blog. what special mix do you use to start your seeds? what do you think is essential? i was just going to put them in small black pots, put them under a grow light and a plastic cover to keep the moisture in.
second, what part of the world do you live in? do you continually start seeds all year round?
thanks!!!

Hello!
For the soil mix I like to use its,
2 pt composted manure
2 pt peatmoss
1 pt vermiculite
1pt pearllite
A sprinkle of agricultural lime (the kind used for hydrangeas)
A sprinkle of blood meal.
Mix up. Then wet and mix till sticky/clumpy. Fill up your containers, plant seeds. Top with a lil extra vermiculite (to retain moisture) if needed.
I do my seed starting outdoors, so unfortunatly I can't give much info on grow light set ups.
Where I live has grow ranges between 6a-10a. Though my immediate area is 9b
We don't get snow in the immediate area, but we do get 100+*f weather for a few months yearly and often by 8 am so most people don't grow too much in summer
Technically we could seed start year round, but once the Temps get to daily 99+*f range, save for a few plants it's not really worth the effort. Generally for the area I'm in there's usually 2 planting seasons (Spring/summer and fall/winter) with successon plantings and tomato/pepper starting in November to be planted in ground around valentines days.
