Growing In Eyelashes and Brows
I have had a lot of questions on how to grow in sparse eyelashes and eyebrows. I know a lot of people have heard about the new eyelash enhancing drug, Latisse. This definitely works for growing in lashes and brows. But you must get a prescription for it and it's very expensive. Also, the side effects are possible change in eye color to brown, which they say is rare, but it is permanent.
If you want to avoid buying Latisse, you can easily make an at home skin preparation of organic olive oil with a drop or two of rosemary essential oil and/or eucalyptus essential oil. If you are using this to grow your eyelashes, don't put in the essential oils, because they will burn and irritate your eyes. It's ok to put the essential oils in for growing your eyebrows, though. What you want to do is before you go to bed at night, apply a very small amount of the plain organic olive oil to your eyelashes with a Q-tip and the essential oil blend to your eyebrows. Over time, this will help the health of your hair growth and also the strength of your hair.
If you really are having trouble growing in your eyelashes, avoid wearing mascara ESPECIALLY WATERPROOF as much as possible. I know this seems counter- intuitive, but mascara and the removal of it can weaken your hair follicle and cause eyelashes to fall out from taking off the mascara. ESPECIALLY avoid using eyelash curlers, as these can break eyelashes and cause the lashes to be very brittle.
For growing in your eyebrows, this takes time. You must be patient and avoid tweezing and waxing for as long as you can stand it. I highly recommend going to a professional brow shaper (such as myself or another esthetician) and allowing them to consult with you on how you'd like your eyebrows to look eventually and how often you should come in for a brow shaping until you get them grown in to your liking. DO NOT TWEEZE BETWEEN APPOINTMENTS or you may ruin all your hard work in growing in your brows by over-tweezing or tweezing the wrong places.
