like i think leo being stranded on her island is great Narratively & just the real low point you get from both. leo stuck on the island & the rest of the seven stuck stranded w a broken boat & leo missing is such a important part of that book esp w the contrast of annabeth & percy's near-constant danger in tartarus but the leo&calypso romance is SO. unnecessary. it works for percy (as far as i remember) bc it was a real contrast of like. escape this prophecy here or return home and maybe end the world if you mess up. but its NOT like that for leo its just 'oh he needs to be in a relationship by the end'
