Controversial Opinion:

I’m Jewish and I really don’t get offended by stuff like that so easily. I Know a lot of things have messed up origins but that’s why I like that they evolve way from them, Hell Lovecraft was racist as crap. I’ve read his stuff and even know that he was considered racist for the time! What I like is that we get farther away from the xenophobic and racist origins as we progress. It’s buried like him. The martian trilogy was colonialist propaganda, but now it’s smothered and discarded behind a mediocre kids movie (Whomst the frack decided to make that decision is stupid but whatever.) Things drift from their initial purpose. I get it. Like the word band-aid they become a general term. If I tried to distance myself from all things that have origins in the screwed up I fear I would not only give those associations power but restrict myself from my favorite genre, Horror. I want to be able to see sea based-horror, mad scientists, the fear of getting swarmed, Evil organizations (I work for walmart so I want to see those organizations suffer like they make me) and my personal favorite, body horror. So let’s carefully sever these roots from the ideas, but never forget where they came from. Avoid stereotypes and continue to make these ideas something FAR removed from their origins. Never forget to tag, though. Respect that people have limits. They should be able to chose not to see something if they do not want to partake.

Bugsnax Worldbuild

So my compy bsoded while writing this.I’m going to hit hard so please heed tags.After my post “controversial opinion” I kept thinking about how to write a canon compliant world build. I don’t want to hurt anyone real so if I make a mistake in the tags please ask me to tag. Sorry it took so long. Be warned. it gets DARK. Spoilers ahead.

Big fan of “We learn we have to commit evil to stop evil”. I will expand on this if wanted. I have ideas with both of the Fizzlebean siblings.

It was the grumpus industrial revolution. A small village goes about its life as usual. Children play in the streets, mothers and others hold their babies while basking in the noon sun, Workers resting to prevent overheating as the last vestiges of their winter coats shed off. Nobody knew who was the first to point out the giant dragon. Everyone heard it yell “MEGAMAKI”. They saw it drift lazily into town by unknown means. It drifted into town square and dove into the ground. Roe flew everywhere, the Minimakis scattered, grumpuses gathered. The first thing you notice is the smell. It smells awesome, Like the most appetizing thing you’ve ever been around. Like any curious animal they eventually took to exploring with their mouth. All Minimakis were consumed with snackification as the result. But ripe megamaki roe is special. It has no immediate side effects. It was deemed safe and shared with everyone. Regardless of age. Nature took no prisoners. The grumpuses who consumed were struck with a mysterious illness over the course of two months. Those that were afflicted didn’t shed like usual. Parts of their fur fell out, they became erratic. Almost like recluses. They went to seek dark corners of buildings and put up fights when forced to socialize the farther their illness progressed.

It was summer when the town died. Grumpuses exploded from the slow-acting poison. Screams rang out. Parents run to the food-debris that was left of their children. Lovers wept as they grasped the pieces of their former ill partners in paws that would never again be held. Children panicked as parents that had drifted farther from the people they knew now lay in fragments at their feet. It must have been an hour before the pieces reanimated. All of those who were sentimental enough to run to their lost were assaulted with the creatures we see on snacktooth. Those bright colorful living bits of food tried their hardest to start their hive. None of the scant survivors forgot that night. Doors were flung open or bust apart. Mouths were forced open. Some were broken open. Grumpus after grumpus fell. Not even the massive fire that broke out could stop all of them. in-fact soldier casts in the shape of cans were created specifically to save the invaders.

After that fateful day the survivors ran to nearby towns to get help. It felt far too easy to leave. The bugsnax behaved almost like regular animals now that the day had passed.Those grumpuses told about the horrors tried taking some home. The bugsnax were “So cute”. Harmlessly playing or just fighting like territorial animals. The survivors then knew what would happen if word got out. Grumuses prepared to kill grumpuses to save grumpuses. Nobody else should have to suffer like they had. Those three adults left made sure that the five families that had been told of the menace, and had subsequently taken the parasites home, disappeared into the night. Their tools were used in the systematic destruction of each of the fallow creatures until none remained. The last one they found was a bunger with it’s curly leg stuck in the bars of an empty crib. It acted like a friendly dog and they slew it like a chicken. The  fifteen survivors banded together in the shadows with their life’s purpose made clear. To prevent every living thing from becoming bugsnax. Omne Vivum Ex Bugsnax. A chant to remind each member of why they do what they do.

But before that, they had to find out where this Megamaki came from.Their sleeper reproductives, the minimakis, had even been caught before they could fly away and transform into immature megamakis. And all of this was just the damage from a three segmented Megamaki.
