maybe scan some of your traditional artwork and trace/line them on SAI using your tablet? it'll help you get used to the tablet and you'll develop a steady hand

‘He’s here again,’ Ai announces, staring out of the window as Matsuoka ascends the stairs to the main doors. ‘Makoto, he’s come back for you.’

‘I know this is all very untoward, but I would like to request the privilege of speaking to Tachibana... Alone.’

The birds chirp outside, loud in the silence of the room, and all of them stare at him in bewilderment. Rin’s eyes are shining, Haru can see that clear as day, and he looks at Makoto.

Makoto’s expression is one of tentative hope, and Haru can only bow to Rin and leave the room as Amakata tries to discreetly shoo everyone out.

‘First, I must tell you that I have been the most unmitigated and uncomprehensive ass,’ Rin says, and the floorboards creak as he gets down on one knee. Makoto feels as though he isn’t really here, floating above the two of them, alone in the room. This can’t be real. Rin is back in Iwatobi and on one knee. Makoto can see the little velvet box in his hand and feels almost faint. He’s been waiting for Rin to come back.

‘I am at the end of my rope,’ Rin continues, voice shaking. ‘I love you so, and I am beginning to suspect that I always have, and always will. Would you do me the honor of sharing the rest of my life with me? That we may be together always, and never allow something so silly to drive me from your side ever again?’

When they come back into the room, Makoto is smiling and Rin is dabbing at his own eyes with a small lace handkerchief Haru recognises immediately as Makoto’s favourite. Sousuke is close behind, peering over the heads of the curious family to see how the proposal was received. He doesn’t look at Haru, save for a quick glance. It is not the time now-- and Sousuke is unsure if it ever will be again.

‘He said yes,’ Rin says, relief clear on his face. ‘Makoto said yes.’

im honestly not stressing anymore of it bc i know what im doing! i would hate to do something like that to another person bc i would feel upset if it happened to me? but i dont want to make it a big deal bc its done and you know thats that and thank you! this coming from you makes me feel so happy bc your amazing as well!!

 "Come, Sousuke," Rin calls, eyes shining. "Dance with us. I hate to see you standing about by yourself." 

"No," Sousuke says. “What-- don’t come over!” He tries to shoo Rin back into dancing with Makoto, but if Rin is anything he is persistent.

Rin ignores Sousuke’s words and pouts, which is terrible behaviour for someone of his social standing. "Look around you! Everyone is friendly, and some aren’t terrible looking. I’d actually say they’re really--” his voice drops to a whisper, ever discreet. "Really good-looking.” 

"You are dancing with the only good-looking person in the room," Sousuke points out. The both of them watch Makoto swaying by himself to the music in the candlelight, and Rin’s eyes shine.

"I know, but his brother’s pretty hot, too. Want Makoto to introduce the both of you?" Rin wiggles his eyebrows, glancing behind Sousuke and winking at Haru. Haru, who isn’t as susceptible to winks from cute young men like Makoto is, remains decidedly unruffled. 

"Makoto’s brother?" Sousuke turns around and catches sight of Haru. Upon making eye contact he turns back to Rin and shrugs. "Doesn’t look like much. And he smells faintly of seawater, which does not seem like a good start. Go have fun with Makoto, Rin. I’m not in the mood for socialising tonight." 

Rin knows when he’s beat, but heads back in Makoto’s direction. Sousuke skulks off to linger near the prosciutto crostini tray. Haru turns to Nagisa immediately.

“He’s a dick,” Haru says.

"But so rich,” Nagisa points out, sagging back into the shadows and scratching at the lace trim itching its way up his back.

Haru isn’t listening. “He probably doesn’t even like mackerel.”

“Haru, please stop judging people solely by that one criteria.”
