I am currently being attacked for "copying" another artists work. I started typing a message to speak on a personal level but it seems as though the blocked me. My heart aches. They have people posting on my page and private messaging me in their defense. Their name is "baronesswolfe" on Instagram and it looks like they are a super talented metalsmith. I went to go to look at their page to see the pieces they have mentioned and it's seems as though I cannot view their images, although I was just able to see their etsy page and I do see similarities. I certainly understand how upsetting it can be to have your work replicated. I feel as though I've had work copied in the past. I want to reassure them that I have had absolutely no intentions of recreating any of their pieces. I'm actually hardly ever on the Internet, and quite really bad at the it... I do try to find 20 minutes a day when I can to share my recent work, but even then I don't have time to troll for ideas. I've educated myself and developed my style a lot over the past 6 years of GruntWerk. I am grateful to have learned the art of making molds and casting to replicate bone and stone fashions I have also been doing for years. I picked several of my favorite bone formations and decided to make molds to further consistency within my line. I look at the materials I possess and piece them together the best I can to accentuate their natural beauty and flow. The tear drop moonstone fit perfect in my small squirrel jaw mold and I can't say that I would ever take it back. I understand their frustration now that I am looking at their past pieces they are referring to, but I used a totally different species of jaw and I don't feel as though they can stake claim for every jaw cast in metal as her design, hell, if anyone wants to argue about who's idea it was to line two jaw bones next to each other in that magnificent "V" shape they make we could give a little more credit to the mammals who graced us with their beautiful remnants. I started casting as way to reduce the demand for natural bone and animal cruelty, also because Metal is my medium. #GruntWerk #bonejewelry
